Check out my do....!

Well... I finally did it! I gave Misty a hair cut. She loves it, she's runny down & up, rolling, panting, going NUTS!!!! What is it about getting her hair cut, maybe it takes off years younger & feeling like it as well? Check her out!

Belate Halloween & Autumn Photos

I have seen contest online that many people enter their pets too. I thought it would be a neat idea to get a few costumes for Misty. A Witch, Baby, & a Halloween t-shirt I brought from Wal Mart. Here's the pictures! Enjoy :-)

Fuzz Ball Days

The time frame of Misty being this fluffy was reason of her illness, I didn't want to make her uncomfortable, I wait for a while to shave her down.

This is what she looks like NOW!

Long Lost Sister

One day I was doing my usual on myspace, searching for Miniature Schnauzer space pages. When I notice one participator mini schnauzer. I read the profile, & they were obvious the exact same age as Misty. I had to do some investigation on this dog & the owner as well. We talked & talked & talked online for hours.

Questions like; where you get the dog from? What name was the breeder? What were the dam & sire? And everything made sense to me. I understand perhaps this little dog maybe an cousin or sister. Somehow they're related to one other. Because they both came from the same breeder. I was stunned, I was running out of questions & answers & everything. I wanted to know. I just had to meet the person face to face. The day we arranged to meet, I was a nervous wreck. I wasn't even sure if she was gonna go along with it? I know the danger about meeting someone off line, she brought her husband to meet as well. They both brought along their Miniature Schnauzer Reilly & Addie, they're so sweet. Misty was a very good girl.

I took it very slowly, I held Misty into my arms, until they came out of the car. So I waited for them, I guess they were as nervous as I was!

When they got out, they had Addie out first to meet, I knee down staring at this dog, that is obviously Misty's long lost sibling. I was so amazed on how they act & look so alike. Then the owner brought out her other dog that was not related to neither. I learned from a guy name Cesar Millan when you meet a new dog always stay calm and assertive, dogs can read all sorts of energy, if you're hyper they'll be just the opposite & become fear full. I have been around & I have had experiences about dog's behaviors. Everything I did worked out. Because they came & sniff me, & welcome me to their heads. I'm very please to meet Misty's long lost sister & the owners.
If you want to read more about Cesar Millan you go either go buy his book "Dog Whisperer" or tune in to his TV show called "The Dog Whisperer" on National Geographic Channel

Feel free to check out his website

Precious Moments

Misty's Ilness

On August 8th 2005 my mom noticed something different about Misty. Whenever someone would go to the back door or get something out of the kitchen , Misty would hear the noise , then jump out of the chair & run to your feet . Or when someone would ring the door bell, she would get so excited & start barking. Misty had not been doing that like usual , and one day my mom saw her run to the back gate & stop, and then Misty fell . My mom was like this is not good sign, so my sister and I took Misty to the vet to get her checked. We asked to get her blood tested & get some x-rays to see if there were any problems. When the blood work results came back, the vet came in the room with a dull look on his face, so we knew something was wrong with Misty. The vet told us that Misty's blood count was below 27%; that is not normal for a dog. She was losing oxygen in her red blood cells & white cells. The vet gave us some options, like to give her a blood transfusion to give that extra boost to her red blood cells. He said that there was an 80% chance she would make it though & a 1% chance that she could die. He gave us two other options: to either put her down or put her on some meds such as Prednisone. She took meds for about few weeks, and nothing improved, there was no change for her. My mom thought it would be her last weekend, so we gave her give a dose of blood to see how well she did. I did some research online, and we figured she had some kind of Anemia or Lymphedema. She would just lay there & not move at all. Losing blood & oxygen is not good. She was very very weak, she would not eat her food, she didn't go to the bathroom much. My mom thought about hand feeding her food, but it didn't work. Then we tried what you use for puppies to nurse them with a syringe, nipple & we put warm milk out for her to drink. So I did that for her until she would eat on her own & when she would feel better, it worked. Then a month went by and she was getting better & better each day . She started to go outside without me carrying her . She now runs in the kitchen when she hears food & she is back to her normal self. She scared me & I cried & cried. I didn't want to lose my baby, she's such a sweetheart. I didn't want to put her down!!! She's 9 yrs old but there are some things she can't do anymore. We limit her activities such as walking, getting hyper, stuff like that ; she sleeps a lot!! Hopely she will die as an old dog not because of her illness.
